Welcome to the Closed Beta landing page!
This is the landing page for everything relating to the Closed Beta. If you made here, congrats, you’re in the closed beta. This page will list guidelines, download and play instructions, and how to handle bugs/issues/suggestions/etc.
Beta Testing Guidelines
To ensure accurate coverage and create the best experience for everyone, please adhere to the guidelines below.
- “Closed Beta” means that most of the major feature are complete to the original game, yet there will still be bugs, unpolished features, etc. For all intensive purposes, this is Early Access. Please do not expect this to be a fully polished release. You will likely come across bugs.
- The official website (this one) is the one-stop for the latest download links and installation files. Our development staff will never email you download links, or send them through Discord, etc. Due to the rise in scams and viruses, ESPECIALLY on Discord, this is the safest way we can provide the game.
- All communication will be done through the Official Stellar Conflicts discord community. This includes announcements, bugs, enhancements, suggestions, and support. We do use an internal bug tracker and roadmap for tracking bugs and enhancements.
- Experiment with different ships, specials, and configurations. We provide every beta tester with nearly unlimited funds to encourage you to test different configurations and strategies, not just the most expensive ones.
- There is no account carryover. Due to the nature of the beta, accounts will be wiped at regular intervals. Anyone who helped during the Beta test, and/or is a genuine OG member will have special account status and flair on full release.

FAQ
- Should I create an account? Or can I just use Guest?
I HIGHLY recommend using guest accounts. Accounts may be wiped. - Why is this a closed beta and not an open beta?
We felt that having a closed beta keeps the scale manageable, allows us to collect feedback , and address said feedback without getting overwhelmed. - How do I report a bug, or offer a suggestion?
Post in the official Stellar Conflicts Discord - The original game was web-based, will a later version be web-based?
We are actively planning this prior to full release. The closed-beta will remain download-only with no web-based client. - Will you release this on Steam?
We are not planning on releasing this on Steam at this time. - Do you plan to monetize this such as adding a price to the final game, adding subscription tiers, or adding DLC/cosmetics?
No. - Do you plan on doing anything special for OG members?
Yes. We just haven’t figured out what yet. - Whats happening with the old clan/squad system?
For how complicated they are to implement, we felt the player-base would be too small to make effective use of them. Further, we felt it might be better reworked into the current faction system. Creating squad bases as a hang-out place (or as a target for other squads) was fun – we just don’t know how to incorporate them yet. - Why not provide a download for the MacOS client directly?
If you want to you can absolutely download the zip file [here] however, you’ll find that since we didn’t sign the executable you won’t be able to run it immediately. If you want to, you can extract it to, say ~/sc-reforged.app and then run “xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/sc-reforged.app” which will let you run it without MacOS blocking it. This, though, is really a lot of work and the install script does it automatically for you.
